ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL EVENT!

For the 6^th year in a row, Energy Karate hosted an event for Tali’s Fund - the 2014 Friendship Tournament.  Despite the cold and rainy spring weather, the turnout was great and we raised close to $12,000!  We would like to extend our utmost gratitude to Energy Karate for their continued support, as well as to the entire Energy Karate family and Tali’s Fund volunteers for their dedication and caring.  Thanks so much to all the participants and to those who attended our bake sale and raffle.

Meagan’s Walk – May 10, 2014

As we do every year, Tali’s Team participated in Meagan’s Walk, a 5 km walk that culminates with thousands of participants joining hands to hug the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), sending a message of hope and love to those within.

Due to feedback we received, we have decided to extend the deadline for submissions to May 8th. Also, if you would prefer to use a smaller canvas, we are accepting entries on canvasses 16"x 20" or larger.  

Your painting can be any type of image... use your imagination and creativity!

Here are the details about both upcoming events:

KIDS 4 KIDS ART AUCTION

Attention Students - Grades 6 - 12!

If you love to draw and paint, then you can help support Tali's Fund. Paint a picture using acrylic paint representing the theme of LIVE, LAUGH, & LOVE on a 16" x 20" canvas (or larger).
Let your imagination be your guide!  
 

25 student paintings will be selected by a panel of local artists.  The lucky winners will have their paintings auctioned on May 25, 2014 at a special event to be held at the
4 Women Gallery at 7:00 pm.
All proceeds will be donated to Tali's Fund.

ENERGY KARATE FRIENDSHIP TOURNAMENT 

MAY 3, 2014

For the 6th year in a row, Energy Karate will host a fundraising event with all proceeds going to Tali's Fund. During the "Tal Doron Friendship Tournament”, Energy Karate students, both children and adults, will take part in a day of friendly competition where they will perform their karate in front of others.  The goal is for each student to come out feeling like a champion! Each participant will receive a trophy.  

The tournament is open only to members of Energy Karate, but as part of the event we will also hold our
 

ANNUAL RAFFLE and BAKE SALE

with great prizes and lots of yummy home-made treats!

• Watch for a new and exciting Tali's Fund event coming soon!  If you would like to know more or to be part of our event planning team,  please contact us at info@talisfund.org.

• July 2013: The song “Tears of an Angel”, co-written and recorded by RyanDan (Tali’s uncles), was featured on the T.V. show “So You Think You Can Dance”.  Although the topic of the dance was bullying, it helped bring even more attention to this beautiful song, written in 2007 for Tali.    The song has received over 2.5 million views on YouTube.

• May 25, 2013: The 5th Energy Karate event for Tali's Fund took place.  $12,000 was raised for Tali's Fund from the Board Breaking Seminar!  Thanks so much to Energy Karate for organizing and hosting this amazing event, and to the sensei's and volunteers who helped run the seminar, raffle and bake sale.  We are most appreciative of Energy Karate's ongoing support for Tali's Fund. We would also like to thank all those who participated in the Board Breaking Seminar and those who came by to show support.  You are all making a difference!!

• We are grateful for a very special and meaningful donation to Tali's fund from Samantha Duke. Samantha raised funds by making and selling jewellery.  She kindly donated some of the funds to Tali's Fund in loving memory of her best friend Eden Worth who passed away on May 2, 2013 from brain cancer.

February 2013:  Amir’s Birthday Fundraiser –  Amir Doron (Tali's big brother) asked for donations to Tali’s Fund in lieu of gifts for his 12^th birthday party.  He raised over $1000!

For the 5th year in a row, Energy Karate will host a fundraising event with all proceeds going to Tali's Fund.  This year, they will hold a Board Breaking Seminar.  Energy Karate students, both children and adults, will learn how to break a wooden board using a punch, elbow, or kick. The Seminar is open only to members of Energy Karate, but as part of the event we will also hold our annual RAFFLE as well as a BAKE AND CANDY SALE with lots of yummy home-made treats.  

Please stop by anytime between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm.  We will be outside Energy Karate (in the Starbucks plaza at Rutherford and Thornhill Woods), rain or shine!  Enjoy some yummy treats and enter our raffle to win some great prizes!

Recent Events

Dec 2012:  Davis Orthodontics – This year, some patients chose to donate their reward points earned (Davis Dollars) to Tali’s Fund rather than collecting prizes.  Davis Orthodontics matched the patient donations dollar for dollar, bringing the total amount to $4542.40! 

October 2012:  Alex Giannoulis’ Birthday Fundraiser – Alex decided to ask for donations to Tali’s Fund in lieu of gifts for his 11^th birthday party.  He raised $400!

June 2012: Tali’s Fund helped support the 15th International Symposium on Paediatric Neuro‐Oncology, which took place in Toronto.  This conference is a collaborative event that assembles those within the paediatric neuro‐oncology community—paediatric neuro‐ oncologists, neuro‐oncologists, oncologists, neuro‐pathologists, psychologists, pharmacists, nurses and social workers internationally, whose expertise is particularly focused on enhancing the care of paediatric neuro‐oncology patients.  The ISPNO brings together world leaders in paediatric and neuro‐oncology research in order to further enhance the knowledge of the participants in helping children with neuro‐oncologic diseases.

June 2012: Leo Baeck Grade 8 Fundraiser – Grade 8 students at the Leo Baeck Day School led a school fundraising event.  They sold popcorn and held a dance-a-thon.  Over $2000 was raised for Tali’s Fund!
